The Ngami-Li Ball is a First Nation’s ball designed by Sean Kinchela, a proud Gamilaroi and Wiradjuri man of NSW.

The ball was the winning design in the 2021 ‘Design Your Own Steeden’ competition.

$1 from every ball sold goes to the KARI Foundation, a not-for-profit that helps build bright futures for Aboriginal families and young people.

Below is a breakdown of the meaning behind different aspects of the ball by Sean:
Ngami-Li means to ‘To Watch’.
The U shape symbols represent people and the middle symbol is a meeting place with people around it, the symbol depicts a camp.
The circle symbols symbolise a meeting place the lines connecting them a journey.
The hand symbolises unity.
I have placed the hand in the middle of the meeting place to symbolise everyone meeting in the middle of their journey to unite.
The cross hatching has always represented family ties to me and I use it to depict this in my stories and designs.
Overall the ball represents how Rugby League unites people of all nations and clan groups of Australia.
